At Sentry Seasonings we understand that delivering safe seasoning blends is job #1. That is why as a spice manufacturer we have policies and processes to meet and exceed SQF Code, Edition 7.2 System Requirements. In order to achieve this SQF certification, we have implemented comprehensive food safety fundamentals.
The Sentry food safety team is equipped with the resources (i.e., equipment, infrastructure, and development of people) necessary to effectively implement food safety and food security programs that meet global food safety standards. Reinforcing Sentry Seasoning's overall commitment to producing safe quality spices that meet our customer's needs.
The senior Sentry Seasonings management team reviews the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System. The management team assesses opportunities for improvement and the need for changes to the food safety management system, including the food safety policy.
A certificate of analysis (COA) is required from our suppliers for each raw material. In addition to the COA, in-house tests are performed on incoming raw materials to confirm compliance. Tests are also performed routinely by an outside lab on randomly selected raw materials and finished products to further verify compliance. All finished products are tested for compliance with specifications, and a COA is also available for each product we make.
Raw materials are approved by Sentry Seasoning's Research and Development team before use. The Quality team evaluates the food safety programs of our vendors to ensure our raw material supply chain is secure. Random supplier/vendor audits are conducted to further validate their food safety programs.
Traceability of raw materials from the spice supplier into our facility is maintained throughout production operations by lot control and First-in, First-out (FIFO) procedures. Retention samples of raw materials and finished products are retained for one year beyond the product shelf-life as a part of our record retention policy.
All food safety updates and training are conducted on an annual basis. Employees are trained in good manufacturing practices (GMP), food allergen awareness, food safety, sanitation, and housekeeping. Meetings are held to review operational results, safety concerns and any GMP issues.
All raw spice materials and finished custom seasoning blend deliveries are inspected for sanitary conditions, temperature conformity, documentation, and the security of the delivery.
Sentry Seasonings employs a certified pest control company to manage and monitor our pest control program.
Our food safety processes are monitored and verified by third-party audits conducted annually by the SQF, aimed at successfully complying with all industry food safety standards. Customers who wish to inspect our safety procedures and guidelines are also welcome! Our safety processes are further focused on reducing non-quality costs and increasing customer retention through our total quality management initiatives.
It is our goal to continuously improve Food Safety Systems through trend analysis of customer complaints and providing timely resolution to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to customers.
Our focus on customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and employee development ensures your products are delivered with food safety as a priority.
We know that getting a new product improved requires a lot of regulatory paperwork and information. It can be a hurdle to make that change. So we at Sentry Seasonings want to make that a seamless, easy process and get you the documents that you need.
A lot of opportunities are lost in this industry due to the tight timelines that are involved, and we at Sentry Seasonings pride ourselves on being able to deliver information, samples, and products in a timely basis so our customers could capitalize on winning those new opportunities.
Our customers range from 250-pound orders through three truckloads a week. Options include bulk, portion control, and retail packaging.
